Gold fever strikes!

Short guided tours for the whole family will immerse you in the stories of the golden lands of Lapland and the world. Do you know where gold was first discovered in Lapland? How big is the world’s largest gold nugget? And how are jeans connected to the gold rush in California? Gold Museum’s summer tours for the whole family will answer these and other fascinating questions about gold. Welcome to join us!

Tours take place from 3 June to 28 August.
Tuesdays at 14.00 in Finnish
Thursdays at 14.00 in English

The guided tours are included in the price of the museum ticket and do not require advance booking. There is a capacity of 20 people.

Gold Museum Summer Café

Gold Museum summer café open in July 2025!

In summer, museum visitors can enjoy delicious pastries in Torvisen maja pop up -café. There will be homemade pastries, snacks and, of course, coffee, tea and cocoa. Gluten-free and vegan products are also available!

Ohcejohka Šearrá cultural festival

The Ohcejohka Šearrá cultural festival will take place for the fourth time this summer. This year’s main event will again feature superstars of Sámi culture, starting at 12 noon on 5 July 2025 at the Onnela ridge. Ella Marie, Petra Laiti, Lávre, Laura Tapiola, Semen Bolshunov, Sámi Jienat, Aleksi Ahlakorpi with Sámi stand-up and Ritni Ráste Pieski and her team Girjái with a decolonial queer utopia will perform at the festival. The evening will continue with Loktafeasta’s rap-focused programme into the night.

Inari Weeks 2025

Inari Weeks brings together the traditional and modern summer events of the region for the delight of locals and tourists alike. The programme offers something for everyone: village festivals, gold panning competitions, children’s events, markets, concerts, church festivals, traditional music, art exhibitions, hiking, dancing, singsongs and theatre.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the summer events of Inari Weeks, in the largest and most beautiful municipality of Finland!

Sleepyhead Day Fair

Welcome to Sleepyhead Day Fair at Ilonka on Sunday 27th of July 10am – 6pm!

Let’s enjoy a wonderful Finnish summer day together! The fair day consists of a free farm visit (hguskies, ducks, chickens, sheep and goats), outdoor games, fleamarket and handicraft stalls as well as program and workshops such as forest parkour, relaxation, and handicrafts. The sensory hut is there for you to just breathe and relax with scents and sounds.

In addition, our Kota Cafe is open and serving snacks and drinks. There will also be a campfire for barbecuing sausages and Finnish pancakes.

Entrance and farm visit free of charge. Take some cash and your card with you for purchases.

Yoga retreat by Fell Centre Kiilopää

Experience the opening of the winter season in Kiilopää. During the long weekend you have time to focus on yourself, reduce your stress level and recharge. The mornings start with a refreshing dip in Kuurapuro fell stream, after a nutritious breakfast we go on a trip to the fells and forest trails on snowshoes, walking or skiing depending on the weather. At the end of the trip we go to pamper our muscles in the smokesauna. In the evenings we gather for a yoga practice.

The days include deep relaxation exercises, singing bowl relaxation, nature connection exercises, hiking, sauna treatments such as foot baths. On Saturday we enjoy the heat of the smoke sauna while steaming, on Sunday morning we do a yoga practice in the smoke sauna.
