The First Aid Course – Extended (Primary & Secondary Care + AED) is a comprehensive training program designed to equip participants with an extensive range of first aid skills and knowledge. Spanning over two days, this course offers an in-depth exploration of primary and secondary care techniques, as well as the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), enabling participants to confidently respond to a wide range of medical emergencies.
Led by certified instructors, the Primary Care course covers a broad spectrum of topics essential for effective first aid provision. Participants will receive comprehensive training in primary care skills, including:
- Assessing and managing medical emergencies
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants
- Controlling bleeding
- Treating shock
Additionally, the Emergency First Response Secondary Care (first aid) component addresses injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life-threatening. Participants will focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill practice, and realistic scenario training. Secondary skills taught in this course include:
- Injury assessment
- Illness assessment
- Bandaging
- Splinting for dislocations and fractures
A significant portion of the course is dedicated to the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Participants will learn how to operate AED devices effectively, ensuring prompt and appropriate use in cases of cardiac arrest.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certification that is recognized internationally and by the Finnish work healthcare system.

Private custom courses for companies and teams are available for booking with 4 or more participants. EFR First Aid courses are conducted by certified EFR Instructors who have a solid background in tourism, program and adventure services, and wilderness first aid. EFR First Aid Courses are legally equivalent to SPR (Red Cross) EA1 and EA2. You can participate in the first day to renew or convert your expiring EA1/EA2 certification.
