Lappish summer begins unexpectedly as nature quickly makes the shift from winter to summer around May and June. The midnight sun, also known as nightless night, begins in Lapland North at mid-May and continues until the end of July. During that time, the sun does not set below the horizon but shines throughout the day and night. August and September are the peak seasons for foraging all the wild superfoods that the pure nature of Lapland has to offer – several different berries and mushrooms. The summer in Lapland is intense and the air is fresh. The temperature is summery and heatwaves are few and far between. In the late summer, nature begins preparations for the autumn and approaching winter, and suddenly the intense arctic summer is over.

The summer is also full of exciting activities, and 24-hour daylight gives an extra boost for not only nature but also people. Locals spend their summer outdoors, in the forests, fells and lakes.
