This easy hiking tour takes us over nice paths through a picturesque moor-, forest and Fjell landscape. Over wooden walkways, sandy paths and rocky territory we hike with only small differences in height through the original landscape. At the beginning a small river accompany us, later on we hike along a reindeer fence, which separates two reindeer herds. Our steady companions are reindeers flora adapted to the polar climate. The Urho-Kekkonen National Park is situated in the northeast of Lapland and it is not far from the Russian boarder. That is the reason why from the highest point of the tour we can see all the way to Russia when the weather conditions are ideal. Otherwise we look over the wide Fjells and the thickly wooded valleys.
Author’s recommendation
The nearby mountain Kiilopää is slightly decomposing. There is a pile of sand and buckets at the Fjell Center Kiilopää. With this equipment visitors can take some sand to the mountain to preserve its existence.

Turn-by-turn directions
Our tour starts at the Fjell Center Kiilopää. From there we keep left and start our hike on a rather broad trail which later merges on in a wooden walkway leading through the forest. We walk along a small river, stay right after having arrived at a reindeer fence and soon reach a gate, which helps us to cross the fence. Afterwards we keep right and hike slightly uphill along the fence. The landscape is steadily getting scantier and finally we are only accompanied by small bushes, mosses and lichens. After 2 km we reach the highest point of our hike. Here we can enjoy a great view over the surrounding Fjell. After a short brake we continue our hike downhill in southwestern direction. We cross the fence once again and follow our path along the hillside of Kiilopää until we return after 6,3 km to our starting point at the Fjell Center.

Follow E75 in northern direction. In Kakslauttanen we turn right into street 9695 towards Kiilopää. Follow the street 6 km to the Fjell Center.Parking
