Minna-Carita’s is a local solo operator providing art, retreat and tourism services in Akujärvi, Ivalo.
The lady of the house, Minna-Carita, originally from Ivalo, creates diverse art that brings joy to locals and travelers in the North. Additionally, Minna-Carita’s offers small-scale tourism services based on local culture and life at their family home in Akujärvi. For instance they offer home-visits including dinner and visits in Minna-Carita’s yurt atelier. Please make sure to make advance reservation for the service.
We also offer guided bus tours to nearby areas, such as Arctic Ocean tours and other excursions to the surrounding villages of Inari.
Art
Minna-Carita’s underground artworks give rise to cheerful and colorful art products, such as cutting boards, trays, and art cards. The paintings depict the vibrant landscapes of the North – those that an increasing number of people have had the opportunity to witness on their journeys. “I aim to capture the splendid natural colors and magical atmospheres on canvas.” You can admire the landscapes in the online store at www.minnacaritas.fi. Moreover, some products are available at Sami Museum Siida in Inari. All the products are processed further in Finland using domestic raw materials. We use Finnish birch in trays and cutting boards.
Programs
We offer private programs at our home, including art and yoga workshops in collaboration with a local yoga instructor. The programs take place in an atmospheric yurt at our courtyard. Programs are available upon request throughout the year for max 6 guests at one time. Please make sure to make advance reservation for the service.
Accommodation – Arctic lakeside holiday cottage Minna-Carita’s
Our accommodation is located on the shores of Lake Akujärvi in Ivalo. We provide basic accommodation by advance reservation in a cozy log guesthouse on our property. The guesthouse (for 2-4 persons) is situated in our courtyard but enjoys its own tranquility behind a small grove – like a secret and atmospheric hideaway in the North. Our accommodation is located outside the village streetlights, and this makes our location unique for viewing the Northern Lights on clear nights during the northern lights season from late August till mid April.
