Try a true Finnish winter experience – Ice fishing on a frozen lake

Today’s trip takes you north of Saariselkä by bus to a remote lake nestled in the magnificent landscape of fells and pine forest in river-valleys extending endlessly across the breathtaking vastness rightfully called ‘’the last wilderness of Europe’’.

Bore a hole through the ice and try your fisherman’s skills! The catch might just be these gems of Lapland’s crystal waters, the trout, perch, the grayling and the pike. You may choose to release your catch back into the lake or have the opportunity to fry the fresh fish you just caught over the open fire. Your guide has come prepared and will put together a tasty lunch on the campfire. In the meantime, settle yourself and your thoughts by the glowing warmth and calming crackle of the fire and admire the beautiful winter wilderness around you.
