Siida is a captivating Museum and Nature Center where you can explore the deep connection the Sámi people share with the arctic nature. Through its exhibitions, Siida preserves and displays Sámi culture and aims to strenghten it’s visitors respect for nature. With a range of exhibitions indoors and outdoors, Siida invites you to immerse yourself in the cycle of the northern life and appreciate the Sámi people’s relationship with the natural world.
Located in Inari, at the heart of the Sámi region in Finland, Siida serves as a central meeting point and a gateway to Sámi culture and the diverse nature of Northern Lapland. Year-round, visitors can explore changing exhibitions focused on culture, art, and nature. The indoor displays are complemented by an inviting open-air museum. Siida also hosts cultural and nature-focused events and seminars.
Siida houses the only Sámi Museum in Finland and the Metsähallitus’ Nature Centre, making it an ideal resource for visitors. The on-site restaurant, Sarrit, offers a buffet lunch and a cafeteria.
Siida’s facilities have been expanded and renovated in 2020-2022, with new spaces for the Sámi Museum’s collections and the restaurant. The centerpiece of the renovation is the new main exhibition, Enâmeh láá mii párnááh – These lands are our children, which opened in June, 2022. The outdoor museum has also been enhanced with year-round lighting, inviting visitors to enjoy its beauty in every season.
