Join our popular mushroom foraging course focused on the edible mushrooms of the Ivalo region. On this course, you’ll practice identifying different mushroom species, learn the basics of foraging, and enjoy the beauty of autumn nature together with others.
The course is especially designed for beginners who want to learn how to recognize edible mushrooms and collect them in a sustainable way – preserving the delicate balance of mushroom ecosystems. Exploring the fascinating world of fungi also fosters appreciation for biodiversity.
During the course, we’ll learn to identify the most common edible mushrooms in the area. Depending on the season, this may include porcini, milkcaps, and chanterelles. You’ll also learn to recognize the most common poisonous mushrooms we may encounter. Along the way, we’ll stop to discuss the nutritional value of mushrooms and how to use them in cooking.
It's a good idea to pack some snacks, but during the coffee break, depending on the circumstances, we could also fry small tasting portions of the mushrooms we collected.
You can join the course for one or two days. The content on both days is the same, but we are likely to find different mushrooms. The guide is a seasoned mushroom expert, and each day’s excursion lasts approximately from 12 PM to 6 PM.
Please note that we may need to cancel the course up to 2 days before it starts if the weather is exceptionally bad, the mushroom season is very poor, or the minimum number of participants is not reached.
