Ilonka’s Easter Experience!

Our Easter Experience will be held on Saturday, April 4th from 1:30–4:30 pm. You’re welcome to come and go as you wish — stay for a short visit or enjoy the full afternoon with us.

We gather around the bonfire to honor the surrounding nature and rejoice in the arriving spring light.

In ancient times, the celebration of spring and light included cleaning rituals, casting spells while waving decorated branches, painting and eating birds’ eggs, and dancing and playing around bonfires. These traditions were believed to drive away evil spirits and bring good luck, health, well-being, and happiness. Let’s celebrate together and welcome spring as our ancestors once did!

Activities for the whole family:

* Painting eggshells

* Decorating spring branches and learning an Easter spell

* Campfires and bonfire dancing (sausages and treats available for purchase at the Kota Cafe)

* A sensory experience in our small Sámi hut, the Kammi – activate your senses by listening to drums and singing bowls, exploring scents, and gazing into the fire

* Meeting our beautiful huskies

* Meeting sheep and goats

* Exploring the mystical nature trail

Easter Time’s Mythology

For ancient Finnish people, Easter was a spring celebration deeply connected to nature and mythology. Fire was believed to cleanse and protect against evil spirits and witches. Especially juniper and tar smoke were thought to scare harmful spirits away. At the same time, fire was seen as something that attracts good spirits and brings luck and happiness.

Decorated branches symbolized that winter had been overcome and that spring, light, and vitality had arrived.

Birds’ eggs played an important role during springtime. They were both eaten and painted. The egg symbolizes nature’s vitality and the potential for new life. During Easter, it represents not only awakening nature but also our own opportunity to shape the future through our actions.

🇫🇮 Tervetuloa Ilonkan pääsiäistapahtumaan!

Järjestämme pääsiäistapahtuman lauantaina 4.4. klo 13.30–16.30. Voit tulla ja mennä oman aikataulusi mukaan — viipyä hetken tai nauttia koko iltapäivästä kanssamme.

Kokoonnumme tulien äärelle kunnioittamaan ympäröivää luontoa ja juhlistamaan kevään valon saapumista.

Ennen muinoin kevään juhla sisälsi siivousta, loitsuja koristeltujen oksien kanssa, linnunmunien maalausta sekä tanssia ja leikkiä kokkojen ympärillä. Näillä rituaaleilla pyrittiin karkottamaan pahat henget ja tuomaan hyvää onnea, terveyttä, hyvinvointia ja onnellisuutta. Juhlitaan yhdessä ja toivotetaan kevät tervetulleeksi kuten esi-isämme aikoinaan tekivät!

* tulistelua ja tanssia kokolla, mahdollisuus ostaa makkaraa ja herkkuja kotakahvilasta

* aistielämyksiä pienessä kammissa – voit hiljentyä kuuntelemaan rumpuja ja äänimaljoja, haistella tuoksuja ja katsella tulta

* ihanien huskien, lampaiden ja vuohien tapaaminen

* mystisen luontopolun tutkiminen
