Welcome to the XXXIX Vaskoolihiihto on April 7th, 2023.
Vaskoolihiihto is held annually on Good Friday in the stunning fell scenery of Saariselkä. The first Vaskoolihiihto was held in 1983, so this year marks the 40th anniversary of the event. Due to the pandemic, Vaskoolihiihto had to be canceled in 2020 and 2021, so this year will be the 39th Vaskoolihiihto.
The race office is located at Lapland Hotel Riekonlinna, from where it is a short distance to both the start area near Tunturihotel and the finish area near the Saariselkä chapel.
Vaskoolihiihto distances The Vaskoolihiihto ski routes have changed slightly over the years, resulting in different actual distances for each course. However, the race organizer has not changed the distances of the available courses due to route changes. For a long time, the current routes have been used, and previous participants know that the distances do not correspond to the actual distances.
Here are the actual distances for each course: 20 km: approximately 15.5 km 40 km: approximately 30.5 km 60 km: approximately 55 km
Vaskoolihiihto has a patron every year.
Jonna Pietilä representing Finavia will be the patron of Vaskoolihiihto 2023.
