Welcome to Ilonka during winter season!

Join us in experiencing the different seasons of the year! During winter season we first celebrate the Lappish Polar Night, Winter Wonderland and Holiday Spirit followed by lovely Mid-Winter and sunny Spring time.

During all season, you get to explore the short nature trail with a glimpse of Finnish Folklore and mythology and focus on all your senses, meet the huskies and other domestic animals, learn about our life at the farm. In addition, you can book spots in the Husky Walk or Kids’ Husky Sledding slots. Your inner child will love this!

We wish you warmly welcome to experience the connection with our beautiful huskies and other domestic animals and explore the nature path in the small forest. You will get to know our family members and learn about our life on the farm. Signs on the short and easy nature path invite you to learn about Finnish mythology and connect with nature doing some little tasks. In the small Kammi hut you get to have your Shaman experience, playing Lappish drums and singing bowls and focusing on your senses. Indoors, either in the house or Kota hut, you get to warm up by the fire. After all the activities, it’s lovely to just relax by the fire and eat lunch or enjoy warm drinks. Our cafe services guarantee you a nice cup of hot chocolate, tea or coffee and something homemade to eat with it.

All different seasons are special in their own way, be it Holiday Season, Polar Night, Mid-Winter or Spring time. The place not only looks magical but also smells, sounds and feels magical. The torches and candles giving light when not the sun, campfires warmth, bells and drums telling us stories and bringing us wisdom from our ancestors.

We have Kids’ Husky Sledding slots available during these Farm Visits. You need to book a spot in this Husky Sledding activity (for ca 4-17-year-olds). Children get instructions on how to drive the sled with 1-2 dogs on the short tracks on the farm premises. The different sized sleds and short routes make it fun and safe. The retired huskies love the slower pace, but sometimes we get to take the younger ones for a run, too. Youngest children are assisted by their parents when needed. The additional Kids’ Husky Sledding activity is 36€ /slot/child and shall be booked in advance. There is a limited number of spots in the sledding activity slots, so please make sure to book well in advance.

You can also book your additional Husky Walk into the wilderness. Please make a separate booking for this activity as well.

The farm is open for public visits during the Winter Season from the beginning of November to the end of May on specific days 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm. Changes may occur, so please book well in advance and always double check the opening hours! If you prefer a guided private farm visit and private husky activities, please choose the Private Experience Farm Visit & Husky Activities!

Our cozy Cafe & Handicraft Boutique is also open during your farm visit – here you can eat lunch and snacks and have warm drinks by the fire place as well as do some sustainable shopping. Woolen socks, mittens, beanies and sweaters handmade by Lilli and her grandma Liisa, ecological berry juices, and sustainable souvenirs are waiting to meet you.

The farm changes according to the seasons but the place always feels inviting. You are warmly welcome to see it for yourself, to experience all this together with us!
